Although Las Vegas does not have a major league baseball, basketball or football team, it is still one of the best cities for sports fans. The NCAA March Madness Tournament, the Superbowl, UFC and Boxing matches and the National Finals Rodeo are some of the largest attractions for Las Vegas. And don’t forget about Poker and NASCAR as well.
Though you can not see the NCAA March Madness games or Superbowl live in Las Vegas, the Casinos play host to some of the biggest parties for these events. The sports books show every game at all times and they offer incredibly large TV screens for your viewing pleasure. They also pack together food and drink specials to attract as many patrons as possible. Las Vegas does have college football and basketball, UNLV, which brings some of the smaller scale tournaments to the city.
The UFC is based in Las Vegas and most locals refer to the UFC as it’s only Pro sport. Though mixed martial arts events are still growing in popularity, there are already plenty of die hard fans that make this sport an action packed event in Las Vegas. Las Vegas has also played host to the largest boxing matches in the history of boxing and even though MMA claims to be taking over, boxing is still strong and will be for quite some time.
Some people may not consider poker as a true sport, but it is and it is very competative a attracts players from all over the world. The World Series of Poker and several World Poker Tour events are all hosted here in Las Vegas and are great to watch or to compete in.
So if you are in to sports and looking for a sports related vacation, don’t rule Las Vegas out of your possible destinations. Just make sure you plan well in advance for the bigger events as the rooms in the hotels will fill up fast.

A vacation to Las Vegas has the potential to satisfy all of your entertainment and adventurous desires. While the biggest attraction is probably the gambling aspect of Vegas, there are thousands of additional attractions to make the trip a memorable one. Here is our list of 3 cool things to do in Las Vegas:
- Tour The Las Vegas Strip – Take a long walk up and down The Strip (or ride if need be) and take in the amazing sites and entertainment presented to you. Night time is usually the best time to take this venture as all the hotels and casinos are well decorated with neon lights that really light up the sky when the sun goes down. You will be able to see all the amazing casinos, take in a show or two (I highly recommend the Fountains of Bellagio), do some shopping for souvenirs and just enjoy people watching as thousands of tourists will also be taking this stroll.
- Check Out The Fremont Street Experience – Downtown Las Vegas is the classic, old style Vegas and now plays host to the Fremont Street Experience. Again, this area is best viewed at night. As you walk down the outdoor walkways, between all the downtown casinos, you will notice a canopy of sorts above your heads. It is there you will see one of the coolest light shows enhanced with lively music that will surely energize you and lift your spirits.
- The Shark Reef - Inside the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino you will find the Shark Reek, which is a tour of a 1.6 million gallon saltwater aquarium filled with several types of sharks, rays, turtles, crocodiles and many other interesting sea creatures. This is a great attraction and something fun for the entire family.

When you travel to Las Vegas, you probably think that all the shows an attractions there are expensive, like any large tourist destination. Actually though, since the casinos make most of their money from all the gambling that goes on, they offer plenty of low cost and no cost attractions to draw you in to their casino.
There are several free attractions and shows in Las Vegas, however the Fountains of Bellagio are one of the most impressive shows available. Outside of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, there is a small lake that plays host to a magical display of water fountains that will take your breath away. Every 15 to 30 minutes, every day of the week, from early afternoon until midnight, these fountains come to life displaying a spectacular display of music, lights and dancing water, Yes, the water actually comes to life and dances around the lake, skillfully synchronized to an ever changing musical set of opera music, classical music or even a Broadway song.
You can witness this free show from the Las Vegas Strip, along the walkway into the Bellagio, or from a few select locations inside the Casino such as the Fontana Bar. Viewing at night allows you to experience more of the lights that are a part of the show, but even during the day time, the experience is memorable. ANother interesting spot to view the fountain show is from across the street at the Paris Hotel and Casino, up top in their Eiffel Tower. This will give you a birds eye view and a unique perspective not available to those watching from below.
So, no matter where you end up staying on your next trip to Las Vegas, make sure you make a trip down the Las Vegas Strip and stop off at the Bellagio to view this inspirational show. It’s free and it is over in less than 10 minutes, so you have no excuses to miss it.
